Job summary

Butler Rose is recruiting an Interim Head of Finance for a client in Exeter for an initial period of around 3 months while a permanent appointment is made.

The successful candidate will lead financial strategy, planning and performance, providing critical commercial insight to support growth, pricing decisions and governance, while overseeing cash flow, reporting and the finance team in a fast-paced SME environment.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Strong experience in FP&A, forecasting, cash management and financial reporting.
• Commercial finance experience covering pricing, margins, business cases and decision support.
• Proven people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced SME, scale-up or growth environment.
• Commercially astute, pragmatic and able to make sound decisions with incomplete information.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning.
• Provide commercial insight to support growth, investment and business performance.
• Own cash flow forecasting, working capital and financial controls.
• Partner with the Commercial team on pricing, contract review and profitability.
• Deliver management accounts, Board reporting and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance across statutory reporting, tax, payroll and audit requirements.
• Lead and develop the finance team while driving continuous improvement.
