Job summary

Lewisham College in London seeks an interim Head of Curriculum for its Elective Home Education provision (14-16). The role oversees curriculum delivery, supports teaching teams and drives improvements in learner outcomes.

Leading a provision of around 120 learners (14-16) and 25 of 16-18, you will work with college leadership to maintain high standards, safeguard, and promote inclusive education while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership and management experience in a secondary school or 14-16 education setting.
• Proven curriculum leadership with a track record of improving learner outcomes.
• Experience developing and supporting teaching staff.
• Strong knowledge of teaching, learning, assessment and quality assurance.
• Sound safeguarding and student welfare understanding.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
• Learner-focused approach with ability to drive improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Elective Home Education provision effectively.
• Oversee curriculum planning, development and delivery with high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
• Lead, support and develop teaching staff, promoting continuous improvement.
• Monitor attendance, engagement, achievement and progression; implement improvement strategies.
• Lead quality assurance activities: observations, curriculum reviews and monitoring.
• Ensure safeguarding, pastoral support, behaviour management and student welfare.
• Promote inclusive teaching and support for learners with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Collaborate with college leadership, parents, carers and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with educational requirements and college policies.
• Contribute to strategic planning and development of the provision.
