Job summary

G2 Recruitment Group Limited is assisting a local authority client in Wales to appoint an Interim Group Accountant (Capital/Closedown) for an initial 6-month period. The role reports to the Chief Accountant and requires hands-on capital accounting, including capital closedown, budget setting and monitoring, and maintaining the fixed asset register.

The successful candidate will lead a small corporate finance team (7–8 staff), work in a hybrid model with part in office, and start ASAP.

Qualifications

• Must be a fully qualified accountant.
• Capital accounting experience (fixed asset register) and finance business partnering (budget setting & monitoring).
• Experience in a local authority setting with ability to hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

• Reporting directly into the Chief Accountant.
• Managing/Supervising a team of 7/8 employees within corporate finance.
• Hands-on capital accounting: capital closedown, budget setting, budget monitoring, fixed asset register.
• VAT & Treasury is dealt with by other members within the team.
• Supporting rather than leading on the production of the statement of accounts.

A local authority client of mine based in Wales are currently on the lookout for a Group Accountant (Capital/Closedown) to join their team on an initial 6 month basis.

Main duties

• Reporting directly into the Chief Accountant.
• Managing/Supervising a team of 7/8 employees within corporate finance.
• Hand on capital accounting - capital closedown, capital budget setting, capital budget monitoring, fixed asset register.
• VAT & Treasury is dealt with by other members within the team.
• Supporting rather than leading on the production of the statement of accounts.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be a fully qualified accountant.
• Must have capital accounting experience both technical (fixed asset register) and also finance business partnering (budget setting & monitoring).
• Must have experience doing the above within a local authority setting as there will be an expectancy to hit the ground running.
