Job description

Location: London, UK

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: £65k-£70k (with Discretionary Bonus scheme)

Working Pattern: Hybrid

A leading European logistics real estate business (£600million revenue) is seeking a qualified and technically strong Interim Group Accountant to join its Group Finance team on a fixed-term basis for the proximity of 12-months.

With a substantial European property portfolio spanning key transportation hubs and major population centres, the business operates across multiple European markets and supports a broad customer base across a range of industries. The finance function is well established and continues to focus on strengthening reporting, controls, processes and finance transformation.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Group Finance, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to senior stakeholders across the business. This is a hands-on role combining financial reporting, group consolidation, technical accounting, financial analysis and process improvement, with significant exposure to senior management.

The successful candidate will be a technically capable qualified accountant who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, challenge financial information effectively and provide meaningful insight into business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely Group financial reporting, ensuring results are complete, robust, and supported by high-quality analysis and commentary.

  • Perform detailed financial analysis, investigating variances, trends, and key business drivers while providing insights to senior stakeholders.

  • Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements, external reporting, and technical accounting papers, providing guidance on accounting and reporting matters.

  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to interpret financial performance and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and reporting requirements.

  • Review, enhance, and automate financial reporting, controls, and processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and governance.

  • Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, leveraging technology and process improvements to reduce manual intervention and strengthen controls.

  • Take ownership of projects and ad hoc financial analysis, delivering high-quality outcomes while maintaining strong stakeholder communication.

To Be Successful

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong academic background.

  • Ideally trained within a Big 4 or Top 10 audit firm, with experience auditing large, complex organisations and a strong foundation in financial reporting and technical accounting.

  • Strong experience in Group consolidations and IFRS reporting, with a sound understanding of complex accounting and reporting requirements.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with the ability to assess, interpret, and clearly communicate complex accounting matters.

  • Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and supporting external reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrated success in improving financial processes, controls, and reporting, with a keen interest in technology, automation, and finance transformation.

  • Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insight.

  • Confident communicator who can build relationships with senior stakeholders, work independently, and deliver against challenging deadlines.

  • Experience in the property/real estate sector and knowledge of European languages would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with a strong Group reporting and technical accounting background to join a high-profile European real estate business and contribute across reporting, financial control and finance transformation initiatives.

If you have the technical accounting expertise, analytical capability and Group consolidation experience required for this assignment, we would be pleased to hear from you.
