Job summary

Zanda is partnering with a fast-growing UK financial services group to recruit an Interim FP&A Leader. You will own the operating forecast as the single source of truth, finish build items, and reconcile to actuals.

From there, stand up the monthly cycle, actuals-versus-forecast, multi-scenario reforecasting, and robust board reporting. You will design and run the FY27 budget end-to-end, ensuring non-finance leaders own their numbers while documenting processes for a permanent successor.

Zanda is an executive search partner that works exclusively with high-growth start-ups as they look to scale their business with senior talent. Zanda partners with VCs, founders, CEOs, and CFOs to deliver key senior appointments.

Zanda is partnering with a fast-growing UK financial services group that has scaled quickly through a series of acquisitions. They are looking to recruit and Interim FP&A Leader. This is a hands-on, do-it-yourself seat, not a build-a-team-and-delegate one. You'll take ownership of the operating forecast as the single source of truth, finish the outstanding build items, and get it reconciled to actuals. From there, you'll stand up the monthly cycle, actuals-versus-forecast, multi-scenario reforecasting, and materially improve management and board reporting. You'll get non-finance leaders to genuinely own their assumptions and numbers, running budget-holder sessions and holding the line on challenge without the CEO or finance lead in the room. You'll design and run the FY27 budget process end to end ahead of the 31st December year-end, and document everything as you go so a permanent hire can pick it up cleanly. The VP Finance retains the long-range plan and board relationship, this role is the engine room.

ABOUT YOU

• Extensive FP&A experience: three-statement, multi-entity and consolidation, multi-scenario modelling, revenue forecasting, and forecast/budget process management
• Proven track record taking ownership of a complex model built by someone else, understanding it quickly and extending it without breaking it
• Played a material part in establishing FP&A somewhere before, ideally in a start-up, scale-up or acquisitive group with imperfect starting data
• Demonstrated ability to embed ownership with the business, running budget-holder sessions independently
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling, comfortable transforming system extracts, and confident using AI tools in a modelling workflow with awareness of their limits
• Concise, structured communicator, comfortable with senior stakeholders, for whom documentation is part of the process, not an afterthought
• Mortgage or protection intermediation experience, or similar sector background with driver-based, transaction- or funnel-driven revenue models
• Experience choosing, implementing or defining the target state for FP&A tooling
• Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
