Job summary

Morgan Law is assisting a South East based Local Government client to hire an Interim Fixed Assets Accountant for up to 6 months. You will own the Council's Fixed Asset Registers, and drive the 2025/26 year-end alongside the audit process.

You will maintain registers through 2026/27, lead capital accounting, depreciation, disposals and impairments, and ensure CIPFA/IFRS compliance in a hybrid setup with 1–2 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Local government financial specialist with fixed asset experience.
• CCAB qualified; strong knowledge of Fixed Asset Registers and GL reconciliations.
• Experience in capital accounting, asset valuations, depreciation, disposals and impairments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Capital Asset Register with accuracy.
• Lead on technical accounting for asset additions, disposals, impairments, revaluations and depreciation.
• Prepare capital statements, notes and working papers for the annual Statement of Accounts; liaison with external auditors.
• Monitor capital expenditure against budgets and provide variance analysis to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure accounting practices align with CIPFA guidelines, IFRS and internal regulations.
