Job summary

Morgan Law seeks an Interim Fixed Assets Accountant for a South East based Local Government client. You will own the Council's Fixed Asset Registers, complete the 2025/26 year-end and audit, and keep registers accurate through 2026/27.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will utilise your CCAB qualification and strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting, valuations, depreciation and impairments, with 1–2 days in the office each week.

Qualifications

• Local government financial specialist with strong fixed assets experience.
• CCAB qualification and knowledge of Fixed Asset Registers and GL reconciliations.
• Experience in capital accounting, asset valuations, depreciation, disposals and impairments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Council's Capital Asset Register with accuracy.
• Lead on accounting treatments for asset additions, disposals and enhancements.
• Prepare capital statements, notes and working papers for year-end and audit.
• Monitor capital expenditure against budgets and provide variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with CIPFA, IFRS and internal regulations.
