Job summary

Transaction Recruitment is seeking an Interim Financial Controller to join a manufacturing business in Bromyard, Worcestershire. The role is initially 6 months, hybrid with 1 day on site.

You will lead month-end and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering across UK sites, managing a small team of three. Strong PQE ACA/ACCA/CIMA and manufacturing background preferred.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with solid post-qualification experience in a financial control role.
• Manufacturing or similar background.
• Experience reporting into a larger group is useful.

Responsibilities

• Sign off the monthly management accounts and the commentary within the profit report before it reaches the Board, ensuring accuracy in numbers and narrative.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations across UK entities, clearing ageing and unsupported items.
• Run the monthly sales review, explaining movements vs prior year.
• Own UK transfer pricing and ensure intercompany treatment is consistent.
• Complete ONS statistics and other statutory data submissions.
• Pull together the UK budget, consolidating site submissions and preparing review decks.
• Guide the Management Accountant through forecast cycles.
• Lead year-end preparation, assemble the audit file, and act as main contact for external audit.

About the Business

An excellent opportunity to join a manufacturing business as an Interim Financial Controller, based in Bromyard, Worcestershire and working hybrid with just 1 day a week on site. You will join at an exciting time, with lots of growth on the horizon. The role is initially 6 months, with a strong chance of it being extended.

Main Duties

Month-End & Financial Reporting

• Sign off the monthly management accounts and the commentary within the profit report before it reaches the Board, making sure both the numbers and the narrative stand up to challenge
• Review balance sheet reconciliations across the UK entities, clearing down ageing and unsupported items
• Run the monthly sales review, explaining and commenting on movements against prior year
• Take ownership of UK transfer pricing and ensure intercompany treatment is applied consistently
• Complete ONS statistical returns and other statutory data submissions

Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

• Pull together the UK budget, consolidating site submissions and preparing the review slide deck
• Guide the Management Accountant through the forecast cycles
• Support the Head of Finance with estimates, Board meeting packs and Management Team packs

Business Partnering & Operational Finance

• Chair monthly stock meetings, challenging valuation, movement and shrinkage
• Hold monthly meetings with Operations, connecting financial performance back to what is actually driving it
• Review site P&Ls directly with the respective Managing Directors
• Meet budget holders monthly and hold them to account for their spend

Year End & Team Leadership

• Lead year-end preparation, assemble the audit file, and act as the main point of contact for the external audit
• Line manage and develop one Management Accountant and two Finance Assistants, holding regular one-to-ones, setting clear priorities and providing technical coaching
• Provide continuity and steady the team through a period of significant change

Location / Office / Culture

The role is hybrid, with 1 day a week on site at the Worcestershire head office and 4 days remote — a genuinely flexible pattern with a high degree of autonomy. You'll report directly into the Head of Finance and work alongside a peer Group Financial Controller elsewhere in the group.

What We Are Looking For
