Job summary

RM Recruit is partnering with a fantastic organisation to appoint an experienced Interim Financial Accountant for an initial six-month basis. You will join the established finance team to provide robust financial accounting support during audit and year-end work.

You will own core accounting activities, complete balance sheet reconciliations, assist with VAT returns and liaise with auditors. ACA/ACCA/CIMA or strong QBE candidates will be considered, with potential to extend into a permanent role.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or strong QBE with relevant experience.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience and attention to detail.
• Experience supporting audit processes and year-end

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of core financial accounting activities across the organisation.
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial accounts for 2026/27 as part of year-end readiness.
• Complete detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support the organisation through its current audit process with external accountants/auditors.
• Review audit points and implement agreed recommendations.
• Ensure robust financial controls and accounting processes are operating effectively.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance requirements are met.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to the finance team.
• Coach and develop colleagues within the team.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial accounting processes and reporting.
