Job summary

ICAEW is seeking an Interim Finance Manager for a Gloucester-based manufacturing business. The role is a 6-month contract with hybrid working (3 days on-site). You will own monthly close, lead a small finance team, and provide insightful reporting for the Board and senior management.

The ideal candidate is a fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with strong cost accounting, ERP experience, and excellent Excel skills. Short-notice availability is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel is essential.
• Strong cost accounting and inventory knowledge is required.
• Ability to manage month-end close and present numbers to non-finance stakeholders.
• Available at short notice is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close including management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Lead and develop a small finance team and provide day-to-day guidance.
• Produce reporting for Board and senior management, incl. margin analysis and KPIs.
• Oversee inventory valuation, standard costing and cost accounting in manufacturing.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve finance processes as the business scales.
• Liaise with external auditors and manage statutory accounts and VAT compliance.
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects and system improvements.
