Job summary

Altum Consulting is recruiting an Interim Finance Manager for a fashion-led retail business on an initial 6-month contract. You will own monthly management accounts, financial reporting and month-end close, and partner with commercial teams to drive financial insight and strategic decision-making.

Key tasks include budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and balance sheet controls, with a small finance team to manage. Prior retail or consumer-facing industry experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/CIMA) with 2 years industry experience.
• Experience in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Excellent Excel and ERP/financial system skills.
• Experience in retail or consumer-facing sectors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly management accounts and month-end close.

Day Rate: £400-£500 per day

Altum Consulting is recruiting for an Interim Finance Manager to join a fashion-led retail business with a strong consumer presence and an established brand portfolio, on an initial contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded individual to join a dynamic finance function, taking ownership of financial reporting, management accounts and business partnering across the organisation.

The Role

Take ownership of the monthly management accounts, financial reporting and month-end close process.

Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, providing clear commentary on financial performance.

Partner with commercial and operational stakeholders to provide financial insight and support strategic decision-making.

Analyse revenue, gross margin, inventory, stock movements and operating costs to identify trends and opportunities.

Support profitability analysis across stores, product categories and online sales channels.

Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and financial controls.

Manage and support a small finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, strengthen controls and drive efficiencies.

Work closely with senior finance leadership on ad hoc projects and commercial initiatives.

About You

ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA or equivalent

• 2 years industry experience

Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience.

Commercially minded, with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.

Confident partnering with senior stakeholders and challenging financial performance where appropriate.

Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP or financial reporting systems.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment and able to hit the ground running.

Previous experience within retail, FMCG, e-commerce, fashion, beauty or another consumer-facing business would be advantageous.
