Job summary

1st Executive is seeking an Interim Commercial Officer to support a government organisation from Hampshire. The role is hybrid, demanding hands-on involvement in procurement, sourcing, contract management and commercial activity on high-value programmes.

You will work closely with project teams, apply sound commercial judgement, manage risk and drive outcomes. Candidates should have independent experience in sourcing, procurement and contract management, with the ability to obtain and maintain

Responsibilities

Advise project teams on acquisition strategies and appropriate commercial approaches.
Lead competitive and single-source procurements and sourcing activities.
Develop invitations to tender or negotiate, including complex contracts with bespoke terms and non-standard pricing.
Manage higher-value and complex contracts throughout their lifecycle.
Make authorised changes to contract cost and schedule.
Take appropriate enforcement action and lead contractor performance assessments.
Provide delivery and oversight of commercial sales activity.
Act as a local expert across sourcing, contract management and sales.
Monitor supplier performance, cost and contract-related management information.
Identify commercial risks, assess trade-offs and determine appropriate risk mitigation.
Take ownership of tender evaluation decisions and apply commercial expertise and judgement.
