You will be responsible for stabilising operational performance, driving quality improvements, and ensuring the successful delivery of key strategic projects that strengthen the service for the long term. You will be leading and managing the full clinical and operational teams, ensuring excellent care is delivered and maintained, and ensuring quality and financial targets are met. As the Interim Care Centre Director at St. Neots Neurological Centre, you will have overall leadership and management responsibility for the service, regulatory compliance, and the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you'll provide interim leadership for 6 months to drive organizational development and project-based improvements within the neurological rehabilitation service at St. Neots Neurological Centre. Your responsibilities include enhancing performance, ensuring quality care and financial targets, and leading clinical and operational teams. You'll be charged with regulatory compliance and overseeing a portfolio of improvement initiatives, such as service redesign and workforce optimization. Effective engagement with local health authorities and preparing the service for a seamless leadership transition at the period's end will be key focuses.

As the Interim Care Centre Director at St. Neots Neurological Centre, you will have overall leadership and management responsibility for the service, regulatory compliance, and the multidisciplinary team. You will also lead a targeted portfolio of improvement projects—such as service redesign, workforce optimisation, pathway development, and commercial engagement—while maintaining operational continuity and preparing the service for a smooth handover at the end of the interim period.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading service development — ensuring services respond to the changing needs of stakeholders and reflect market trends and evidencebased practice.
  • Delivering projectbased improvements — overseeing a defined set of strategic projects, ensuring milestones are met within the 6month timeframe.
  • Ensuring regulatory, quality and financial targets are met.
  • Leading the senior management team — developing local strategy, ensuring adherence to objectives, quality improvement plans and business plans.
  • Promoting and enhancing the hospital’s reputation for specialist care and service excellence.
  • Fulfilling the role of Registered Manager as per CQC expectations.
  • Engaging with Integrated Care Boards and Local Authorities to support service development and commercial opportunities.
  • Preparing for transition — ensuring robust processes, documentation, and governance are in place for a seamless handover at the end of the interim period.

To be successful as the Interim Care Centre Director you will:

  • Have an excellent track record in a healthcare or social care management role (essential).
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of neurological services.
  • Bring a clear emphasis on performance, delivery, budget control and business development.
  • Show a credible, inclusive and supportive leadership style with the ability to implement change at pace.
  • Possess strong knowledge of clinical and nonclinical operational activities within a health or care organisation.
  • Have working knowledge of neurological provision and the ability to apply this to service improvement.
