Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a skilled management accountant for an interim role based in Central Bristol. This exciting opportunity involves supporting the finance manager with the preparation of monthly management accounts, conducting variance analysis, and managing budgeting processes. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a management accountant role, preferably within an SME, and will be proficient in Sage accounting software and Excel. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the finance team while enjoying a flexible work arrangement, whether part-time or full-time.

  • Recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience.

Job description

We are currently working with a well-known business based in Central Bristol. This interim role will be for around 3-6 months and will support the finance manager and wider finance team with the preparation of monthly management accounts.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support business strategy.
  • Oversee and reconcile accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Handle payroll and VAT returns.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and manage year-end processes.
  • Provide support for ad hoc financial projects as required.

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in a management accountant role, ideally within an SME environment.
  • Proficiency with Sage accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, including reporting, reconciliation, and compliance.
  • Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
