Job summary

Autism Anglia is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for our Peldon Campus in Colchester, Essex. You will work closely with autistic adults and people with learning disabilities to help them develop life skills and achieve personal goals in a safe, supportive environment.

The position involves driving Autism Anglia cars, delivering person-centred support, and coordinating activities in the local area. A full UK manual driving licence is required, and sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Carer, Senior Support Worker, or Team Leader, preferably with autism or learning disabilities.
  • Full UK manual driving licence is required.
  • Ability to identify and support the needs and aspirations of individuals with communication needs.
  • Experience in providing intensive behavioural support is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills within the local community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred, outcome-focused support with team collaboration.
  • Maintain dignity, privacy, and wellbeing; assist with personal care, health, and hygiene.
  • Support individuals in activities including sport, leisure, cultural and recreational events, day trips and holidays.
  • Drive the people we support to appointments and activities.
  • Assist with communication, sensory support, or psychological monitoring and interventions.
  • Ensure support plans, risk assessments, and documentation are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures and act promptly on concerns.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with individuals to help them develop life skills, achieve personal goals, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

This role requires a Full UK Manual Driving License in order to drive Autism Anglia cars.

Salary

From £25,003.61 per annum (£12.96 per hour)

Hours

Full-time: 37 -39 hours per week (overtime available)
