The Intelligence Officer is the central point for collecting and monitoring crime information across the business, proactively ensuring data accuracy. A key part of the role is liaising with law enforcement to aid investigations and share information to resolve cases of theft, fraud, and other criminal activities. Strategically, the officer analyses crime data to identify trends and generate insights, contributing to development and other stakeholders. This proactive approach ensures continuous improvement in Loss Prevention efforts against evolving criminal threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with Law Enforcement: Act as the primary point of contact with local police and other external agencies and internal stakeholders regarding investigations and criminal matter
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse loss data to identify trends, patterns, and high-risk areas and prepare reports for management
  • Multi-Agency/Stakeholder Collaboration: Cultivate robust relationships with stakeholders and law enforcement to ensure effective resolution of criminal activities affecting the business
  • Project Management: Manage and oversee specific crime prevention projects and initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards
  • Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor the progress and impact of crime reduction activities, evaluate their effectiveness, and contribute to performance reporting
  • Information Sharing: Develop and maintain effective communication channels to disseminate relevant crime information, best practices, and learning across partner agencies in line with company privacy policy.
  • Policy and Procedure: Stay informed about current legislation, policies, and procedures concerning crime reduction and their potential impact on the business and your responsibilities
  • Report Writing and Presentations: Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and briefings for a variety of audiences, including senior management and stakeholders

Person Specification:

Skills required:

  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong interviewing and interrogation techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation and legal procedures related to theft, fraud, and evidence handling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, management, and externalagencies.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
  • Proficiency in using CCTV systems and other security technologies.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google workspace

Experience

  • Experienced Intelligence professional sought with a background as an Intelligence Analyst or Retail Loss Prevention Officer. Must possess 2+ years of experience submitting case files to UK police
  • Public speaking skills for conference presentations
  • Experience presenting to board-level audiences
  • Operational Knowledge of Retail Crime Network. Monitoring organized retail crime (ORC) groups, including cross-border theft networks and online fencing operations on platforms like eBay and Facebook Marketplace.
  • Experience in court testimony (e.g., as a professional witness)
  • Knowledge of Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) applications for asset recovery is beneficial.

Additional requirements

  • Must be willing to travel nationally to meet business and loss prevention development needs
