Job summary

Avon and Somerset Police seeks an Intelligence Assistant to join the Processing Team, collating and assessing intelligence to support policing priorities and protect vulnerable people. You will learn to draw conclusions from diverse information sources while working alongside a supportive team.

No specific intelligence qualifications are required; role offers blended office/home working with shifts across Portishead and Bridgwater sites.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Highly motivated and able to work both on your own and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Process and assess intelligence reports received by police systems and mailboxes.
• Check that details are inputted correctly and update police systems accordingly.
• Conduct basic research, evaluate information and make decisions regarding course of action.
• Act as initial point of contact for other forces, agencies and internal departments.
• Maintain, update and review data on the Police National Computer (PNC) & LEDS.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of data held within PNC and provide a timely enquiry and update service.
• Identify, submit and process new intelligence obtained from investigations.
• Conduct research using Police systems, evaluate the information and influence decisions on Avon & Somerset’s priorities.
• Provide focussed products on key problems and help identify offenders where they are unknown.
