We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly to keep people in our counties safe.
We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person, we want to hear from you.
We wish you all the very best with your application.
Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner
From your first day with us, you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm, and keep people safe.
The threats facing Surrey and Sussex are constantly evolving, and offenders continually find new ways of committing crime. The information needed to confront these risks is not always evident. That’s why we need Intelligence Analysts to help make sense of what’s going on and direct our response to some of the most complex and high-profile cases in our counties.
We are looking for people who can identify connections from big data sets and evolving intelligence. You will have to ask insightful questions to get to the heart of a problem. You’ll identify, interrogate, and assess information from a range of covert and overt sources. You will need to understand complex and technical problems, explain your thinking, and come up with creative solutions to help tackle crime.
You will work on a variety of critical, strategic, and high-risk incidents. Sometimes, you will be under pressure to build a big picture from small pieces of intelligence and threads of data. You will need to be flexible and creative, and able to communicate your findings to front-line staff and chief officers. Your problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and presentation skills will be crucial in keeping the public safe and tackling criminals.
Intelligence Analysts provide sophisticated analysis that supports officers and staff in effective decision-making around complex problems. This is critical when policing is asked to do more with less, and where accurate information and persuasive judgment need to reach the right people quickly. The context will vary depending on the specific role, from problem solving, volume crime, and anti-social behaviour, to organised crime, counter-terrorism, homicide, and other serious crimes and strategic issues.
You will advise and assist in investigations by providing strategic and tactical analysis of intelligence, evidence, crime, and disorder. You will identify offenders, series, trends, and information gaps. You will suggest opportunities to gather intelligence and evidence, prevent or disrupt crime, progress investigations, solve problems, or reduce threat, harm, and risk.
Please note that due to the nature of this job, there may be times you are exposed to investigations of a distressing nature.
We are looking for candidates with the following essential skills and experience. All applications are anonymized and will be assessed against these criteria, which should be clearly evidenced within your application:
Policing is a dynamic 24/7 business, and we support work-life balance through flexible working options, including job shares, part-time work, agile working, and home working.
