Job summary

William James Recruitment is seeking an Intellectual Property Senior Associate in Manchester to join a growing Commercial Services team. You will advise on a broad range of IP matters, both contentious and non-contentious, for clients in technology, life sciences, media and beyond.

Working with the Head of Commercial, you will mentor junior lawyers, help grow the IP offering, and develop client relationships through internal referrals.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with strong IP experience (contentious and non-contentious).
• Currently operating at Associate or Senior Associate level.
• Experience advising on trade marks, copyright, licensing, IP commercialisation and brand protection.
• Strong commercial awareness with business-focused advice.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on IP matters (contentious and non-contentious).
• Support trade marks, copyright, licensing and IP strategy.
• Work with technology, life sciences and media clients on commercial solutions.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Corporate, Data Protection and Litigation teams.

• Work closely with technology, life sciences and media clients on commercially focused legal solutions
• Collaborate with colleagues across Commercial, Corporate, Data Protection and Litigation teams
• Assist in developing and growing the firm's Intellectual Property offering as part of a wider Commercial Services strategy
• Mentor and support junior lawyers while contributing to the continued growth of the team
• Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships through internal referral networks

The Candidate:

• Qualified Solicitor with strong experience in contentious and non-contentious Intellectual Property law
• Currently operating at Associate or Senior Associate level
• Experience advising clients on trade marks, copyright, licensing, IP commercialisation and brand protection
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Collaborative approach with an interest in mentoring junior lawyers
• Enthusiastic about helping to build and develop a growing Intellectual Property practice
• Commercially minded with an interest in business development, although an existing client following is not required
