Job Description:

Job Title: Insurance & Intervention Handler

Reports to: Insurance Manager

About Us

Otto Car is one of the UK’s fastest-growing private companies in the mobility sector. Helping to get private hire drivers on the road to ownership, our mission is to bring our loved ones home safely. With roots in London, we are expanding our reach to bring affordable, sustainable vehicle ownership solutions to drivers across the UK.

Since our humble beginnings with a single Toyota Prius nine years ago, we’ve grown into Europe’s largest fleet of electric vehicles on ride-hailing platforms like Uber and Bolt, with thousands of vehicles on the road. We’ve supported over 20,000 drivers in achieving financial independence and are proud to lead the way in helping private hire drivers transition to a greener future.

Joining Otto Car means becoming part of a fast-paced and values-driven scaleup, playing a key role in shaping our future growth and success as we expand regionally in the UK.

About the role

As an Insurance & Intervention Handler at Otto Car, you’ll play a key role in managing and optimising our motor insurance portfolio, you’ll help to protect the business while supporting our continued growth. From ensuring accurate policy coverage to resolving third-party claims, you’ll sit front and centre of our Insurance Function.

Reporting into our Insurance Manager, you’ll work cross-functionally with insurers and internal teams to keep our policies compliant, efficient, and aligned with day-to-day operations. Whether you’re reconciling monthly declarations, investigating policy breaches, or improving our claims process, this is a hands-on role for someone who’s detail-driven, proactive, and comfortable navigating complex insurance matters.

We’re looking for a highly organised, solutions-focused professional with a strong understanding of motor insurance and a passion for operational excellence. If you're driven by helping others, passionate about streamlining processes, and excited by the opportunity to make a real impact on reducing business costs, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

Third Party Intervention Responsibilities:

(Primary Role)

  • Manage third party claims where Otto Car is at fault, coordinating directly with affected parties and communicating our offering.
  • Arrange third party vehicle collections, courtesy cars and repairs through our internal repair network, including logistics coordination.
  • Approve repair quotes, verify invoices and provide regular updates to third parties on repair progress.
  • Ensure a smooth handover post-repair, collecting courtesy vehicles and confirming customer satisfaction.

Insurance Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the timely addition and removal of vehicles and drivers across insurance policies, ensuring accurate coverage that aligns with operational needs and reduces unnecessary risk.
  • Review and approve monthly insurance declarations, maintain accurate reporting of cover change and manage the insurance shared inbox for timely handling of queries.
  • Liaise with internal teams to identify and address policy breaches, implementing mitigation measures where necessary.
  • Maintain organised records of all insurance transactions and communications to ensure compliance and audit readiness.

What we’re looking for

  • 2-3 years experience in automotive insurance administration
  • Solid understanding of motor insurance policies and related compliance requirements
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communicator, confident liaising with insurers, legal teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Proactive problem-solver with sound judgement in managing risk-related issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Why Join Us?

At Otto Car, we combine purpose with ambition. By joining our team, you’ll work alongside dedicated individuals from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared mission. As a bootstrapped business, we have the freedom to innovate and make meaningful impacts - both within our team and for our customers. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobility in the UK while being part of a values-driven, fast-growing company that truly invests in its people.
