Qualifications

• Non-life insurance experience in public or private sector.
• Experience handling motor, public liability, employers' liability, and property claims.
• Negotiation and settlement of claims.
• Knowledge of insurance policy cover and liability.
• Strong communication skills (telephone and face-to-face).
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Investigate insurance claims from first notification to settlement, including site visits.
• Negotiate property and liability claims within Council's handling arrangements.
• Support management of Council's £1.5 billion property insurance portfolio.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating insurable risks across departments.
• Liaise with insurers, solicitors, loss adjusters, and internal teams.
• Prepare reports, returns, and evidence for insurers and courts.
• Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and Council policies.
