Job summary

MPJ Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join a client’s team in the Gloucester area, handling domestic and commercial building claims from validation through to repair completion.

You will assess damage, validate claims against policy, manage repair schedules and liaise with policyholders, insurers and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience validating domestic and commercial building claims.
• Strong understanding of building pathology and damage assessment.
• Experience in project management and reinstatement work.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed site visits and assess building damage.
• Validate claims against policy coverage and determine liability.
• Communicate with policyholders regarding claim decisions and repair scopes.
• Prepare repair schedules and review variation requests.
• Interpret policy wordings and apply claims-handling guidelines.
• Manage claims through assessment, repair scheduling, fulfilment and final reporting.
• Manage contractors and ensure repairs meet specifications.
• Produce detailed client reports within agreed timescales.
• Provide technical support to claims handlers and wider teams.
• Attend complex claims, project management visits and complaints when required.
• Develop repair methodologies to minimise disruption and manage costs.
• Ensure Health & Safety and company procedures are followed.
