Job summary

MPJ Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join a growing team supporting domestic and commercial building claims from validation through to repair completion. Based in Stevenage and surrounding area, the role handles complex claims with focus on building pathology, damage assessment and reinstatement.

You will manage site visits, validate claims, coordinate repairs, liaise with policyholders and contractors, and deliver detailed client reports while maintaining health

Qualifications

• CIOB or equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
• Degree in Building Surveying or in progress with strong industry knowledge.
• Experience with subsidence claims is advantageous.

Building Surveyor

Location: Stevenage & Surrounding area's
Salary: Up to £53k+ & £6K Vehicle allowance
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a growing team, supporting domestic and commercial building claims from initial validation through to completion of repair projects.

This is a varied role suited to someone with a strong background in building pathology, building claims, damage assessment, reinstatement and project management, ideally with experience handling subsidence claims.

The Role

You'll be responsible for managing claims from initial site assessment through to repair completion, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and in line with policy requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting detailed site visits and assessing building damage.


• Validating claims against policy coverage and determining liability.


• Communicating with policyholders regarding claim decisions and repair scopes.


• Preparing repair schedules and reviewing variation requests.


• Interpreting policy wordings and applying claims-handling guidelines.


• Managing claims through assessment, repair scheduling, fulfilment and final reporting.


• Managing contractors and ensuring repairs meet the required specifications.


• Producing detailed client reports within agreed timescales.


• Providing technical support to claims handlers and wider teams.


• Attending complex claims, project management visits and complaints where required.


• Developing repair methodologies that minimise disruption and manage claim costs.


• Ensuring Health & Safety and company procedures are followed.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• Strong experience within domestic and commercial building claims validation.


• A solid understanding of building pathology and damage assessment.


• Experience in project management and reinstatement work.


• Strong report writing and communication skills.


• Experience conducting site investigations and diagnosing building issues.


• The ability to manage multiple claims and meet deadlines.


• A proactive approach to problem-solving.


• The ability to work confidently with policyholders, contractors, insurers and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Ideally, you will have:

• CIOB membership or an equivalent professional qualification such as RICS or CILA.


• A degree, or be working towards a degree, in Building Surveying or Construction.


• BDMA qualification or equivalent.

Experience with subsidence claims would be highly desirable.
