Insurance Actuarial Investment Consultant – London

The Mercer Insurance Solutions team aims to expand both the Advisory and Insurance Solutions business across the International Region (excluding the US). The team collaborates with various insurers, including life, non-life, health, captive insurers, and reinsurers. Your role involves growing Mercer’s business with insurance clients by retaining, increasing revenues, and acquiring new business, especially focusing on investment implementation. Responsibilities include project delivery, business development, and proposition development.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with Marsh & McLennan companies to offer solutions to insurance clients.
• Providing strategic investment advice, including asset allocation, portfolio structuring, risk optimization, and implementation.
• Building confidence with distribution teams to source and close new business opportunities.
• Designing and delivering high-quality investment solutions for proposals, presentations, and RFPs.
• Representing as an insurance-investment expert in client pitches and business activities.
• Leading project teams or acting as a senior resource for major projects, mentoring junior colleagues.
• Ensuring technical accuracy and reasonableness of work.

Minimum requirements:

• Actuarial qualification, ideally fully qualified or part-qualified.
• Experience in an investment or market risk role focused on insurers, gained through relevant employment.
• Strong technical understanding of insurance investments.
• Knowledge of insurers’ assets and liabilities, with the ability to develop practical asset strategies.
• Analytical skills in modelling, risk, stress, and scenario analysis.
• Participation in publications and events for insurers.
• Commercial awareness and ability to coordinate outcomes across teams.
