Job summary

ChampionX in Southampton is seeking an Instrument Technician to perform planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance on instrumentation within a chemical manufacturing environment. You will calibrate instruments, fault-find on 4–20 mA/HART loops and support safety instrumented systems in hazardous areas.

Candidate will handle project installation tasks, loop checks and commissioning, liaise with engineers, and keep accurate CMMS records.

Qualifications

Apprenticeship or traineeship in instrumentation or electrical discipline
Experience maintaining instrumentation, electrical or control systems in industrial environments
Training and approval to work on hazardous area equipment (CompEx Ex01–Ex04) or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

Carry out instrument planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance
Carry out calibration of instruments to schedule and maintain calibration records
Fault-find on 4–20 mA/HART loops, pneumatic systems and control system I/O
Conduct proof testing of safety instrumented functions and alarm testing
Inspect and maintain hazardous area (Ex) equipment per DSEAR and site requirements
Assist with project installation (CAPEX) and commissioning, including loop checks and drawings
Record work in CMMS and provide feedback to improve maintenance procedures
Identify critical spares and raise requisitions for parts and tools
