Instrument Technician, Grangemouth Temporary

Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. We are seeking experienced Instrument Technicians to join our Offsites team at our Grangemouth site on a temporary basis.
The Instrument Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, fault finding, overhauling, and improving instrument and electrical plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable manufacturing processes that meet business demands. The role requires executing these tasks safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, in compliance with all company procedures and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all work in accordance with RAP Net permit, work pack, procedure, and/or method statement within scheduled timeframes.
- Participate in technical appraisal of new Work Orders & Service Requests to diagnose remediation scopes.
- Assess future work scopes and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.
- Evaluate fault findings and communicate solutions considering availability and costs to prevent reoccurrence.
- Promote predictive and preventive maintenance, supporting operations technicians to increase equipment reliability and availability.
- Report delays or issues to Supervisor to maximize productivity and asset performance.
- Coordinate with external suppliers for spare parts, drawings, and tooling.
- Provide daily feedback on work progress to Supervisor or Asset Scheduler.
- Complete QA and Work Pack documentation, including job reports and test documents.
- Execute IT software system expectations, including job reports and work order updates.
- Create or update maintenance documentation, requesting updates to master documentation as needed.
- Ensure availability of workshop consumables and PPE.
- Engage in personal development and training, including working towards electrical authorization for 11KV installations.
- Work within plant conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and breathing apparatus.
- Maintain competence on asset workshop machinery and safety practices.
- Cover at least one non-core activity (e.g., COSHH, PUWER, Manual Handling, Apprenticeship, Safety Rep).
- Lead daily training of apprentices.
- Conduct 5 Why investigations for CEB work scopes.
- Participate in TBRA and constructability sessions when requested.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
Required:
- Formal Instrument/Electrical Apprenticeship.
- Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrumentation loop diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience on a top-tier COMAH site.
- Proficiency in computer systems and Maximo CMMS.
- Current driving license preferred.
