About the role:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production Operations Team based in the North East London region.

This is a mobile role, where you will work on various Water Treatment Works and borehole sites around the Chingford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, and Stonebridge Park areas.

We seek a candidate who can operate safely, efficiently, and independently, maintaining standards to meet statutory obligations and ensure asset availability and performance standards are upheld.

An ICA Technician may also operate and optimize processes and on-site equipment to ensure water quality compliance, safety, and operational efficiency both during and outside normal hours.

Responsibilities include:

• Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of water production assets including level instrumentation, flow meters, and turbidity monitors.
• Working with SCADA systems, PLCs, and process control networks.
• Supervising contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Investigating asset failures and implementing repairs promptly to prevent water supply interruptions.
• Providing technical advice and training support for apprentices.

Base Location: The role is primarily based at the Coppermills Water Production site near Walthamstow.

Working hours: 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby duties and potential earnings increase of £8,000 to £10,000.

Additional info: PPE, tools, company van, and fuel card are provided.

Requirements:

• Strong practical knowledge of operational assets and control systems.
• Experience with SCADA, relay logic, PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), including management and programming.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams and fault find, with experience with inverter drives preferred.
• HNC/Level 4 qualification or 6+ years' experience, including apprenticeship in Control, Instrumentation, and Automation.
• Valid driving license is essential.
• Safety-conscious, self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive with excellent communication skills.
