About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production Operations Team in North East London. This mobile role involves working at various Water Treatment Works and borehole sites around Chingford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, and Stonebridge Park.

The role requires working safely and efficiently, maintaining standards to meet statutory obligations, and ensuring asset availability and performance measures are upheld. An ICA Technician may operate and optimize processes and on-site equipment to ensure water quality, safety, and operational efficiency, including outside normal hours.

Responsibilities include:

  • Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of water production assets, including instrumentation and monitors.
  • Working with SCADA systems, PLCs, and process control networks.
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers.
  • Investigating asset failures and implementing repairs promptly.
  • Providing technical advice and training apprentices.

Location: Base at Coppermills Water Production site near Walthamstow.

Working hours: 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and potential earnings increase.

All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.

Requirements:

  • Practical understanding of operational assets and control systems.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, relay logic, PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), and inverter drives.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and fault find.
  • HNC/Level 4 or 6+ years’ experience including apprenticeship in Control, Instrumentation, and Automation.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Safety-conscious, self-motivated, and proactive with good communication skills.
