Lexington School District Four in Swansea is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students in the classroom, under occasional supervision, to maintain a well-organized learning environment. This role also involves assisting school administrators with various clerical tasks as requested.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: possess an associate's degree from an accredited college; or have earned 60 semester hours (or the equivalent) from an accredited college; or have GED or high school diploma and passing score on ParaPro test prior to employment. Must also have initiative, knowledge and understanding of children, the ability and willingness to work well with others, the ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy, and the ability to accept individual differences among children.
Under occasional supervision, performs specialized work by assisting teachers in instructing and directing the activities of students in the assigned classroom to provide a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. Assists school administrators and staff with various administrative and clerical functions as requested.

Requires light work that involves walking, bending, or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. Must have ability to physically restrain a student if called upon to do so after proper training. May also be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
185 days based on Classified Salary Schedule Grade 7 or Grade 8 (Associate's Degree or higher).
