Job summary

Aspired Talent Ltd is recruiting a Van Lining Fitter for a leading manufacturer in Blackburn. The role involves installing lining and insulation in commercial vehicles, following technical drawings and fittings instructions to meet customer specifications.

You will work on back shift, with four-day weeks, 4:30pm-2:30am, and overtime rates. Training is provided, and progression is available based on training completion and assessments. The company offers benefits and a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in van fitting or vehicle conversions is desirable.
• NVQ Level 2 in Joinery or Carpentry is beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience using hand and power tools.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically capable of manual handling up to 20kg.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods.

Van Lining Fitter - Day and Back Shifts

Location: Blackburn, BB1

Pay: £13.00-£17.28 per hour

Hours: Monday to Thursday - four-day working week

Job type: Full-time

Aspired Talent is recruiting Van Lining Fitters for a leading manufacturer of temperature-controlled and refrigerated commercial vehicles in Blackburn.

Full-time opportunities are available on back shift.

Back shift

Monday to Thursday, 4:30pm-2:30am

Pay schedule:

• 4:30pm-10:00pm: £13.00-£14.40 per hour
• 10:00pm-2:30am: £15.60-£17.28 per hour, including the back-shift premium

The back-shift premium is paid only for hours worked between 10:00pm and 2:30am. Hours worked before 10:00pm are paid at the applicable standard rate.

Starting pay and progression to the higher fully trained rates will depend on previous experience, successful completion of training and passing the required competency assessments.

Overtime

• Up to six hours of overtime is paid at time and a half
• Overtime exceeding six hours is paid at double time

About the role

As a Van Lining Fitter, you will install lining and insulation systems into commercial vehicles, ensuring a high standard of workmanship, safety and quality.

You will work with materials including plywood and insulation, completing standard and bespoke vehicle conversions to meet individual customer specifications.

Candidate requirements

• Previous experience in van fitting, vehicle conversions, joinery, carpentry, assembly or a similar practical role is desirable
• An NVQ Level 2 in Joinery or Carpentry would be beneficial but is not essential
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Good practical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A quality-focused approach to work
• Physically capable of manual handling, including lifting and moving materials weighing 20kg or more
• Comfortable standing for extended periods

Full training will be provided. Applicants with transferable skills from joinery, carpentry, kitchen fitting, vehicle assembly, coachbuilding or general manufacturing are encouraged to apply.

A short practical skills assessment will form part of the interview process.
