Job summary

TRS (Technical Recruitment Solutions) is recruiting an Installation Engineer (Trainee / Junior Electrical) in London / South East. The role focuses on learning to design, install and maintain gas detection systems across commercial environments while gaining practical site experience.

You will work hands-on on site, with a company van, full toolkit and training, plus a clear progression path, 25 days holiday, pension and healthcare after probation.

Qualifications

• Some electrical experience from college, apprenticeship, or as an improver.
• Comfortable on-site and hands-on work.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Full UK driving licence.
• CSCS/ECS card is a plus.
• 18th Edition is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install gas detection systems on customer sites.
• Work with conduit, trunking, cable tray and cabling.
• Assist wiring and basic terminations.
• Travel to sites across London and the South East.
• Occasional site travel away with expenses covered.
• Complete basic admin (timesheets, reports).

About the role

We're working with a well-established and growing engineering company. They design, install and maintain systems across commercial environments including universities, labs, healthcare and infrastructure.

They're looking for a hands-on Installation Engineer to join the team — ideal for someone early in their electrical career who wants to learn, develop and build a long-term future.

What you'll be doing

• Installing gas detection systems on customer sites
• Working with conduit, trunking, cable tray and cabling
• Assisting with wiring and basic terminations
• Travelling to sites across London and the South East
• Occasional working away (all expenses covered)
• Completing basic admin (timesheets, reports etc.)
