Job summary

Plan B Midlands Limited is seeking an Installation Engineer to join our field service team covering Greater London. You will lead installation, servicing and fault diagnosis on automated gates across commercial and residential sites.

The role requires direct gate engineering experience and knowledge of manufacturers like CAME, FAAC, and BFT, plus a valid UK driving license. We offer a base salary up to £48,000 with overtime and a company van.

Qualifications

  • Direct Experience: Proven background specifically as a Gate Engineer, Barrier Engineer, or Gate Automation Specialist (handling both reactive maintenance and installation work).
  • System Knowledge: Deep hands-on experience with core gate and barrier manufacturers (CAME, FAAC, BFT, HTC, Eagle Automation).
  • Electrical & Mechanical Skills: Strong diagnostic capability with 230V/24V control boards, safety edges, induction loops, photocells, and intercoms.
  • Certifications (Desirable): DHF Gate & Barrier Safety Diploma, CSCS Card, or 18th Edition.
  • Driver’s License: Valid UK driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance, reactive fault diagnosis, and emergency repairs strictly on automatic gates.
  • Install, commission, and upgrade electromechanical and hydraulic gate & barrier automation hardware.
  • Ensure every site installation complies with strict safety regulations (DHF / Door & Hardware Federation guidelines).
  • Participate in a regional on-call rota for emergency gate and barrier call-outs across London.

About the Role

We are recruiting a dedicated Installation Engineer to join our field service team covering Greater London. This role is strictly focused on perimeter access systems, making it an ideal fit for an experienced Installation Engineer or a Reactive Gate Engineer looking to advance their career with a dedicated

specialist.

You will lead the installation, routine servicing, reactive maintenance, and complex fault diagnosis exclusively on automated gates across commercial and residential sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned maintenance, reactive fault diagnosis, and emergency repairs strictly on automatic gates.

What We Are Looking For

  • Base Salary: Up to £48,000 (DOE)
