Job summary

Matthew Arnold School in Oxfordshire is recruiting a Teacher of Science on a fixed-term contract from 01 January 2027 to 25 March 2027 to cover paternity leave. The role welcomes Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners, teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology.

You will teach across KS3–KS5, lead a tutor group, contribute to departmental schemes, and support enrichment activities while upholding high standards of behaviour.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching Science in secondary school.
• Strong subject knowledge of Science curriculum and GCSE/A Level content.
• Ability to inspire, engage and support students of all abilities to achieve excellent outcomes.
• Collaborative approach and commitment to professional development in Science education.

Responsibilities

• Teach Science across KS3 to KS5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons.
• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge students.
• Monitor, assess and support student progress.
• Contribute to development of departmental schemes of work and teaching resources.
• Support enrichment activities and promotions of Science inside and outside the classroom.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, achievement and student welfare.
