Job summary

We Are Zenith in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, assessment and tutorial support across FE, Level 2/3 qualifications, apprenticeships and Higher Education programmes.

The post holder will inspire learners to reach their potential, support progression into employment or further study, and contribute to curriculum development, employer engagement, and quality assurance in line with awarding bodies.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification or above in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Relevant industrial experience within Mechanical Engineering.
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Commitment to achieving a recognised teaching qualification if not already held.
• Degree or Higher National qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent).
• Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance qualifications.
• Higher Education teaching experience.
• Experience delivering apprenticeship standards and HE programmes.
• Experience using CAD software and workshop machinery.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent classroom and workshop management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across Mechanical Engineering programmes.
• Teach Level 2 and Level 3 engineering qualifications, including apprentices and full-time students.
• Deliver practical and theoretical engineering content in line with awarding body requirements.
• Provide high-quality learning experiences that develop learners' knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve retention, achievement, and attendance.
• Differentiate learning to meet learners' needs across backgrounds.
• Deliver apprenticeship standards and associated technical qualifications.
• Support apprentices in developing occupational competence and workplace skills.
• Work collaboratively with employers to ensure training meets industry requirements.
• Contribute to apprentice reviews and progress monitoring activities.
• Develop and assess assignments, practical assessments, and examinations.
• Provide timely constructive feedback to learners.
• Maintain accurate records of learner attendance and progress.
• Participate in internal verification, standardisation, and quality assurance processes.
• Ensure compliance with awarding organisation and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to design, review, and improvement of engineering programmes.
• Ensure curriculum content stays current with industry developments.
• Support employer engagement activities and industry partnerships.
• Assist in promotion and recruitment of engineering courses.
• Deliver Higher Education modules where qualifications and experience permit.
• Support Higher Education students through guidance, assessment, and project supervision.
• Contribute to quality and compliance requirements in HE provision.
• Act as a personal tutor as required.
• Promote positive learner behaviours, safeguarding and wellbeing.
• Support learners in achieving academic, personal, and career goals.
• Participate in curriculum meetings, staff development and college events.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engineering practices and educational developments.
• Ensure Health and Safety compliance in workshops and classrooms.
• Adhere to college policies including safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
