Job summary

Groveside School in Reading is seeking a passionate Maths Teacher to join our supportive team. This SEND-focused school values engaging, inclusive learning and close collaboration with families.

You will plan and deliver tailored Maths lessons, monitor progress with data, develop personalised support plans, and help shape the Maths curriculum. We offer a permanent contract, 37.5 hours, 45k salary, term-time only, and a £1,000 welcome bonus.

Qualifications

• QTS qualification or equivalent required.
• Experience teaching Maths and working with pupils with SEND, ASD, SEMH and/or challenging behaviour.
• The resilience and confidence to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve more than they thought possible.
• The ability to work independently while being a committed member of a collaborative team.
• A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wider development of every pupil.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual needs, abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor and assess progress, using data and other strategies to identify next steps and raise achievement.
• Develop personalised learning and behaviour plans alongside colleagues and other professionals.
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and self-regulation through positive and restorative approaches.
• Work collaboratively with Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Care and other professionals to provide consistent support.
• Contribute to the development of the Maths curriculum and wider school improvement priorities.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, communication, record keeping and pupil wellbeing.
