Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment are seeking a qualified Science Teacher to work in a secondary school in Oldham across KS3 and KS4, with QTS and recent UK teaching experience.

You will deliver engaging science lessons, manage practicals safely, assess pupil progress, and contribute to safeguarding. The role offers an ASAP start and long-term placement with a competitive daily rate of £170–£235.

Qualifications

• QTS is essential.
• Applicants without QTS will not be considered.
• Recent experience teaching Science within a UK secondary school is required.
• Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 Science is essential.
• Experience teaching Biology, Chemistry or Physics to GCSE level is desirable.
• ECTs may be considered where they have recent UK secondary school experience.
• You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
• You must have full right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Plan and deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons.
• Prepare pupils for GCSE Science where required.
• Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils of varying abilities, including SEND.
• Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management.
• Assess pupil progress and provide feedback where required.
• Promote safe working practices within classrooms and laboratories.
• Contribute positively to the wider Science department.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school expectations.
