Job summary

Aldridge School is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join The Mercian Trust. Reporting to the PLC Manager, you will deliver learning activities to small groups and individuals, plan targeted interventions, and support students with social, emotional, behavioural, and learning needs.

With GCSEs in English and Maths and an HLTA qualification, you’ll work closely with staff, parents and external agencies to monitor progress and promote inclusive learning across the school

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at least grade C/4
• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
• Safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake)
• First Aid qualification desirable
• Experience with secondary-aged students with social, emotional, behavioural or learning needs
• Plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities and interventions
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• Ability to motivate, engage and inspire young people
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience collaborating with staff, parents/carers and external agencies
• Ability to maintain accurate records and monitor student progress
• Resilient, adaptable and committed to promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for all students

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of the Personal Learning Centre (PLC)
• Deliver learning activities and teaching sessions to small groups and individual students
• Plan and prepare targeted interventions to support student progress
• Support students with social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs
• Work closely with the PLC Manager and wider school staff to meet individual student needs
• Build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies
• Monitor student engagement, attendance and wellbeing
• Promote inclusion and help students successfully reintegrate into mainstream school where appropriate
