Job summary

The Mercian Trust seeks an HLTA to support the Personal Learning Centre (PLC) at Aldridge School. You will deliver targeted learning activities to groups and individuals, plan interventions, and work with staff to meet each student’s needs.

You will monitor wellbeing, promote inclusion, and help students reintegrate into mainstream provision where appropriate. Prior HLTA experience and safeguarding training are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with secondary-aged students, especially those with social, emotional, behavioural or learning needs.
• Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities and interventions.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Qualifications and Skills:

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience working at Higher Level Teaching Assistant level.
• Relevant safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake training).
• First Aid qualification desirable.

• Experience of working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with social, emotional, behavioural or learning needs.
• Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities and interventions.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to motivate, engage and inspire young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and monitor student progress.
• Resilient, adaptable and committed to promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for all students.
