Job summary

Maiden Erlegh School in Reading is seeking an enthusiastic Classroom Teacher of English to plan, resource and deliver engaging lessons that promote strong progress and high academic standards. You will work with a supportive team to develop the English curriculum and contribute to the wider life of the school.

The successful candidate will hold a good degree, a PGCE or equivalent in secondary education, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Qualifications

• Be a skilled classroom practitioner with the ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students make strong progress and achieve high standards.
• Use a range of teaching strategies to meet differing needs and overcome barriers to learning.
• Assess students’ progress and use findings to inform future teaching and support improvement.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in a safe environment.
• Contribute to the English curriculum development and delivery.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Collaborate with support staff to support student access to learning.
• Contribute to tutor provision and student wellbeing and development.
• Participate in wider school life, enrichment and extracurricular activities.
