Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a skilled Chemistry Teacher in Exeter to join a secondary school’s Science department. You will teach Chemistry across KS3 and KS4, delivering a blend of theoretical lessons and practical investigations to foster understanding of materials and reactions that shape the world.

The successful candidate will promote scientific curiosity, manage the classroom effectively and support learners in developing knowledge and GCSE examination skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Chemistry or secondary Science.
• Strong knowledge of KS3 and KS4 Science curriculum.
• Confidence delivering practical experiments safely.
• Effective classroom management, planning and communication skills.
• Commitment to supporting students' academic progress and scientific understanding.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Chemistry lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach topics including atomic structure, periodic table, chemical reactions, bonding and rates of reaction.
• Deliver practical experiments in line with health and safety procedures.
• Develop students' scientific enquiry, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Prepare students for GCSE Chemistry assessments and examinations.
• Adapt teaching materials to support learners with different abilities.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain a safe laboratory environment.
• Collaborate with Science colleagues to develop resources and ensure curriculum delivery.
