Job summary

OSI Electronics, UK in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, is seeking an Inspector to perform PCB inspections during the SMT stage, referencing IPC standards as well as customer instructions.

You will operate on the factory shop floor providing 1st off inspection, direct batch inspection and sample inspection, ensuring assemblies meet drawings and workmanship standards, and supporting lean manufacturing and right-first-time initiatives.

Qualifications

• Electronics manufacturing is essential for this role.
• Experience in direct inspection is desirable.
• Ideally inspection experience with IPC610A workmanship standards.

Responsibilities

• Operates on the factory shop floor, performing 1st off inspection, direct batch inspection, sample inspection and process verification for PCB assembly.
• Ensure assemblies meet drawings and required workmanship standards efficiently and with quality focus.
• Develop strong relationships with production team to apply right first time and lean manufacturing principles.
• Ensure production builds follow build packs (BOMs and Drawings) and IPC-610A or customer standards.
• Provide feedback to production operators on issues or rework and ensure rework is completed to required standard.
• Escalate identified trends to engineering/QA and promote a strong right first time policy.

Role Overview

The Inspector will perform inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs) during the SMT stage of the manufacturing process, with reference to IPC standards as well as specific customer instruction.

Responsibilities

• Operates within the factory shop floor, providing 1st off inspection, direct batch inspection, sample inspection and process verification for the assembly of electronics both by machine and hand.


• A disciplined approach ensuring all assemblies are built to drawing and the required workmanship standards in an efficient and quality focused manner.


• To develop strong, effective relationships with the individual production team members to ensure that our ‘right first time’ and lean manufacturing principles are applied.


• Ensure all assembly work is undertaken to the appropriate build standard by reference to supplied build packs (BOMS and Drawings) ensuring relevant workmanship standard (IPC-610A or customer specified equivalent) are maintained.


• Ensure all production processes are followed at all times.


• Provide feedback to production operators of any identified issues or rework.


• Ensure all rework is completed to the required standard.


• Minimise rework by ensuring all operators are aware of any issues that arise during the production processes and help identify and feedback to supervisors where further training is required.


• Escalate any identified trends to engineering / QA and promote a strong ‘right first time’ policy.
