Asda is undergoing an exciting data transformation, placing insight and analytics at the heart of strategic decision-making. We are seeking an Insight & Analytics Manager to support high-impact, technically rich initiatives that deliver real business value across our commercial, customer, supply chain, and digital functions.
About the Role
In this role, you will shape and deliver advanced analytics, visual insights, and commercial recommendations that influence decisions at every level of the organisation. You’ll be working in a hybrid cloud environment (Azure, Databricks), applying your skills to real challenges in areas like customer behaviour, operations, and digital journeys. You will also mentor and manage a team of talented insight professionals, helping to grow our analytical capabilities and foster a high-performance culture.
We operate a matrix-style squad structure. Over time, you will have opportunities to work across multiple squads focused on various strategic projects. Initially, you will focus on Ranging, accountable for delivering insight tools supporting Asda’s ranging process and decision-making within the Commercial function. You will aim to continually improve and extend these tools to meet evolving stakeholder needs, demonstrating the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and translating business requirements into technical scopes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create Value Through Insight: Lead the development and delivery of analytics that solve strategic problems, quantify business value, and support major transformation initiatives.
- Advanced Data Analytics: Oversee and apply statistical and analytical techniques to build models, validate hypotheses, and assess business performance using SQL, Python, and cloud platforms like Azure and Databricks.
- Lead with Purpose: Mentor and develop analysts, setting high standards of analytical quality, objectivity, and insight that influence business outcomes.
- Engage & Influence Senior Stakeholders: Collaborate with senior leaders to scope analytical opportunities, challenge assumptions, and embed data into decision-making processes.
- Insight Generation: Translate complex datasets into accessible and actionable insights.
- Enable Data-Driven Decisions: Drive the development of visual narratives using analytical platforms to translate data into insights for business action.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor analysts and data scientists, ensuring high-quality outputs and professional growth.
- Strategic Contribution: Lead analytics projects from inception to impact, aligning deliverables with business needs and ensuring clarity, reproducibility, and robustness.
- Provide Thought and Technical Leadership in Analytics: Promote best practices, peer learning, and a strong value mindset across the insight community at Asda.
