Job summary

St Josephs Hospice in London is seeking a health care assistant to join the inpatient team on one of our wards. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients and their families, with a focus on palliative and end-of-life care.

The role offers opportunities to learn from colleagues with palliative care expertise, and to grow through our education programme. You will need caring experience, either paid or voluntary, and a commitment to high standards of care,

Responsibilities

• Ensure the palliative care unit is run in a caring and effective manner to promote a safe environment for patients, relatives and staff.
• Keep the ward tidy and uphold high infection control standards.
• Assist patients with personal care and advise on health needs with input from the multidisciplinary team.
• Assist in admitting patients to the ward.
• Help patients at mealtimes according to their needs.
• Escort patients to appointments and advocate for their needs.
