Job summary

The Head of Infrastructure will lead a 37-person function through a major transformation, consolidating three data centres into two, modernising on-premise estate and developing cloud capabilities at a leading UK university. You will shape strategy, drive delivery and empower teams across servers, storage, virtualization and networks.

Reporting to the technology leadership team, you will manage budgets and suppliers, ensure security and resilience, and partner with senior stakeholders to realise

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience within a complex infrastructure environment.
• Broad understanding of platforms, networks, cloud, data centres, storage and virtualization.
• Experience leading managers and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Ability to empower teams while maintaining accountability.
• Experience developing infrastructure strategies and roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and empower the infrastructure management team.
• Define the infrastructure strategy, standards and technical roadmap.
• Consolidate data centres and modernise on-premise estate.
• Oversee cloud adoption and telephony transformation.
• Ensure availability, capacity, resilience and security of critical infrastructure.
• Manage budgets, suppliers, contracts and SLAs.
• Provide reporting to senior leadership and act as escalation point.
