Job Title: Infrastructure Support Engineer

Location: Barrow in Furness – on-site, with some travel required

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £57,500 per annum depending on experience

Our client, an established aerospace & defence engineering firm, requires an experienced Infrastructure Support Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.

Positions are available at Senior and Principal Engineer levels.

Role responsibilities include:

• Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues across hardware, software, networks, and operating systems.
• Managing and supporting VMware vSphere infrastructure, including virtual machine creation, virtual network management, cloning, snapshot management, storage management, backups, and recovery (HA, DRS).
• Managing, supporting, and administering operating systems (Windows/Linux), including installing software, patching, user account administration (AD), implementing GPOs, hardening, and creating automation scripts (PowerShell).
• Managing and supporting networks (virtual and physical), including troubleshooting issues.
• Creating, updating, and maintaining documentation related to actions, changes, incidents, etc.

Candidate requirements:

• Sole UK Nationality – UK Eyes Only Project
• Degree in a relevant subject
• Proven experience in 2nd/3rd line IT support, specifically in Windows and VMware environments
• Experience with managing virtual environments using VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter (VCP)
• Solid understanding of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 configurations and maintenance
• Experience in systems migration, patch management, and disaster recovery
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
• CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA certification (networking tasks)
