Job description

Permanent position based in Birmingham (Hybrid). We are seeking an experienced AWS Infrastructure Support Engineer for a role that requires active SC and NPPV3 clearance. The role involves travel to Birmingham 4-5 days a week, with an immediate start ideally in Summer 2025.

This position offers an opportunity to work with a leading digital transformation business delivering large-scale, long-term IT projects for the public sector.

Key responsibilities and requirements include:

1. Experience with a broad range of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, ELB, EBS, EFS, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, with a focus on best practice cloud security.
2. Proficiency in Windows and Linux system administration, including building, hardening, and managing Linux operating systems.
3. Automation experience using Shell, Ansible, Python, and PowerShell scripting.
4. Expertise in Juniper firewall configuration, patching, and switch configuration and patching.
5. Experience with MS Active Directory configuration and management.
6. Monitoring tools experience such as Grafana, Prometheus, Alert Manager, and Node exporter.
7. Experience with incident and change management tools like Git, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
8. Active SC Clearance & NPVV3 is required.

Desired skills and experience include:

1. Provisioning infrastructure using Terraform and Vagrant.
2. Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 AWS environment, including automation with configuration management tools.
3. Knowledge of Jenkins pipelines using Groovy scripting.
4. Knowledge of Windows System Update Service and DFS Replication.
