Job summary

Aldwych Consulting seeks an Infrastructure Project Manager to lead major projects in Birmingham, delivering them safely, on time and within budget. You will oversee feasibility through handover, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and maintain robust governance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven infra project delivery experience in consultancy or client side.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts; JCT beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead infra projects from feasibility to handover, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Manage programme, cost, quality and risk objectives across the project.
  • Act as primary client contact, providing trusted advice throughout the lifecycle.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including designers, contractors and cost consultants.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, governance docs and progress reports.
  • Chair project meetings and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Support procurement strategies and contractor appointments.
  • Manage change control and project reporting; monitor risks and opportunities.

Infrastructure Project Manager – Birmingham – Salary up to £55k

Role

As an Infrastructure Project Manager, you'll be responsible for leading projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the successful delivery of infrastructure projects from feasibility through to handover.
  • Leading the day‑to‑day management of projects, ensuring programme, cost, quality and risk objectives are achieved.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, providing trusted advice throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, including designers, contractors, cost consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining project programmes, governance documentation and regular progress reports.
  • Chairing project meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Supporting procurement strategies, tender processes and contractor appointments.
  • Managing project risks, opportunities, change control and project reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety legislation and client governance procedures.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the project management team as the business continues to expand.
About you
  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or another relevant construction‑related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects (Highways project experience is highly desirable) within a consultancy or client‑side environment.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts (JCT knowledge would also be beneficial).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Working towards or already achieved Chartered status (APM, RICS, ICE or equivalent) is desirable.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a passion for delivering high‑quality projects.
