Job summary

Bimplus in Gloucester is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the South West, Midlands and Wales. You will manage multi‑discipline teams and ensure delivery from feasibility to handover, engaging with public and private sector clients.

The role requires proven delivery of civil projects, NEC contract experience, and strong leadership with client‑facing capabilities. Chartered status or working toward is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in a construction consultancy or client‑side organisation.
• Proven delivery experience of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Experience on highways, utilities, drainage, flood defence, public realm or major infrastructure schemes.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts; knowledge of JCT is beneficial.
• Excellent programme, risk and stakeholder management skills.
• Confident in leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and client‑facing abilities.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered status (MAPM, MICE, MRICS or equivalent) or working towards professional accreditation.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
• Act as the principal point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, contractors and external consultants.
• Prepare project execution plans, programmes and delivery strategies.
• Advise clients on procurement routes and project delivery methodologies.
• Manage NEC and JCT contracts throughout project delivery.
• Monitor project budgets, programmes, risks and KPIs.
• Chair client, design, progress and stakeholder meetings.
• Manage project governance, reporting and change control procedures.
• Coordinate works across highways, drainage, utilities, bridges, earthworks, flood alleviation and wider infrastructure schemes.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, CDM Regulations and quality standards.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and programme risks.
• Support and mentor Assistant Project Managers and junior members of the team.
• Build long‑term client relationships and contribute towards business development activities.

The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its growing Gloucester office.

This is an excellent opportunity to take the lead on a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the South West, Midlands and Wales. Working closely with public and private sector clients, you'll manage schemes from initial feasibility and business case through to construction and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards.

Role Overview

About You

• Previous experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within a construction consultancy or client‑side organisation

• Experience working on highways, utilities, drainage, flood defence, public realm or major infrastructure schemes
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts, with JCT knowledge also beneficial
