Job summary

Proactive Appointments Limited is recruiting an Infrastructure Project Manager for a leading banking client in the City of London. You will own a varied portfolio of infrastructure delivery and service-improvement initiatives, spanning networks, data centres, platforms and resilience.

The role requires engaging with technical SMEs and senior stakeholders to drive delivery and governance in a BAU environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Project Management experience within complex IT or financial services environments.
• Strong infrastructure background with networks, platforms, storage, data centres or service operations.
• Proven track record delivering technical infrastructure projects and service improvements.
• Experience working in portfolio, programme or project delivery environments.
• Strong governance, planning, reporting, risk management and delivery control capabilities.
• Good understanding of IT Service Management and service operations.
• Experience with ServiceNow, ITM, infrastructure build/deployments and platform upgrades.
• Structured, waterfall delivery approach with ability to engage with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Managing the delivery of infrastructure projects across network, platform, storage and data centre environments.
• Driving continuous service improvements across infrastructure and service operations.
• Coordinating remediation of infrastructure risks and end-of-life technology concerns.

Infrastructure Project Manager

4 days onsite initially - Contract to Permanent opportunity

We are partnering with a leading banking client to recruit an experienced Infrastructure Project Manager to join their Infrastructure and Service Operations function.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager with a strong infrastructure background to take ownership of a varied portfolio of technical delivery and service improvement initiatives within a complex banking environment. The role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, service management and operational resilience, with a focus on delivering improvements across the bank's technology estate, mitigating infrastructure risks and driving operational efficiency.

Our client is looking for a Project Manager first and foremost - someone who understands infrastructure, can engage confidently with technical SMEs and has the experience, credibility and drive to deliver projects independently.

You will manage a portfolio of infrastructure projects and service improvement initiatives, typically overseeing 4-7 projects at any one time. The work is varied and delivery-focused, spanning infrastructure upgrades, service improvements, risk mitigation and operational optimisation. While the projects may not be large-scale transformation programmes, they are highly important to the stability, resilience and ongoing development of the bank's technology services.

Role responsibilities:

• Managing the delivery of infrastructure projects across network, platform, storage and data centre environments.
• Driving continuous service improvements across infrastructure and service operations.
• Coordinating the remediation of infrastructure risks and self-identified issues, including end-of-life technology and operational resilience concerns.
• Supporting initiatives to upgrade platforms, introduce new functionality, improve customer services and optimise costs.
• Overseeing technical delivery activities such as infrastructure builds, deployments, device rollouts and service enhancements.
• Establishing clear project governance, delivery plans, milestones, dependencies and reporting.
• Working closely with technical SMEs, Product Owners and Service Management teams to drive delivery and ensure commitments are met.
• Managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring projects progress effectively within a BAU environment.
• Supporting the delivery of a structured mitigation model to accelerate the resolution of infrastructure and service-related risks.

Skills required:

• Around 10 years' Project Management experience within complex IT or financial services environments.
• A strong infrastructure background, with exposure to areas such as networks, platforms, storage, data centres or infrastructure service operations.
• A proven track record of delivering technical infrastructure projects and service improvement initiatives.
• Experience working within a portfolio, programme or project delivery environment.
• Strong governance, planning, reporting, risk management and delivery control capabilities.
• A good understanding of IT Service Management and service operations.
• Experience working with technologies and environments such as ServiceNow, ITM, infrastructure build and deployment, and platform upgrades.
• A traditional, structured project management approach, with experience delivering through waterfall methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and gain the respect of technical SMEs.
• The confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and executives, communicating clearly and effectively at all levels.
