Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Facilities Management Project Manager for HMP Northumberland. Lead infrastructure projects, manage budgets, and ensure safe, compliant delivery in a fast-paced prison environment.

You will coordinate with contractors, internal teams, and regulatory bodies, driving project success from initiation to handover while upholding Sodexo standards and safety culture.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering infrastructure or construction projects in FM or similar environments.
• Solid understanding of CDM Regulations and statutory compliance.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and procurement processes.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management experience.
• PM qualification (PRINCE2, APMP, or equivalent)
• BIFM Level 4 desirable; IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day delivery of infrastructure projects across HMP Northumberland.
• Support lifecycle replacement, capital expenditure and improvement projects.
• Ensure projects meet safety, budget, schedule and quality targets.
• Monitor contractor performance and compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Maintain asset records and preventative maintenance schedules per SFG20.
• Report progress, risks and performance using MS Office tools.
• Manage vendor onboarding through Sodexo's approval process.
• Assist with CDM, building regulations and ISO standards compliance.
• Foster safe systems of work and strong stakeholder relationships.
• Deputise for Head of Client Infrastructure Projects when required.

Location: HMP Northumberland, NE65 9XG

Contract: 24 month FTC

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum plus Sodexo benefits

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Northumberland, leading the delivery of infrastructure projects that support the safe, secure and effective operation of one of the UK's largest prisons.

Reporting to the Head of Client Infrastructure Projects, you'll play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, lifecycle and capital investment projects worth approximately £1.2 million per annum. You'll ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards, while supporting the wider Facilities Management team and deputising for the Head of Client Infrastructure Projects when required.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Site Infrastructure Project Manager, you will:

• Manage the day-to-day delivery of infrastructure projects across HMP Northumberland through specialist subcontractors.
• Support the delivery of lifecycle replacement, capital expenditure and client-led business improvement projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual and statutory requirements.
• Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards, programme delivery and Health & Safety legislation.
• Carry out quality inspections of completed project works and implement corrective actions where required.
• Maintain accurate records of new infrastructure assets and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are updated in line with SFG20 standards.
• Monitor and report project progress, risks and performance using Microsoft Office applications.
• Manage contractor relationships, including onboarding new suppliers through Sodexo's vendor approval process.
• Support compliance with CDM Regulations, building regulations, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are implemented across all projects.
• Build effective working relationships with prison stakeholders, subcontractors and the wider Facilities Management team.
• Deputise for the Head of Client Infrastructure Projects when required.

What We're Looking For

You’ll be an experienced project professional with a strong background in Facilities Management or construction-related project delivery.

We're looking for someone who has:

• Experience managing infrastructure or construction projects within a Facilities Management environment.
• A strong understanding of CDM Regulations, project governance and statutory compliance.
• Good knowledge of current UK Building Regulations.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrable leadership and people management experience.
• A recognised Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, APMP or equivalent.
• BIFM Level 4 (or equivalent) qualification is desirable.
• IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification, with excellent knowledge of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience delivering projects to budget and programme.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and manage project risks.
• Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• The ability to learn and use CAFM systems (Maximo), Building Management Systems (BMS) and other specialist software.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a complex operational environment.

Experience within secure environments, healthcare, education, defence or other 24/7 operational facilities would be advantageous but is not essential.
